Safety & trust
Trust built into every job
Find A Hand is a marketplace that connects Customers with independent local Helpers. We don't supervise the work — but we do everything we can to give both sides the tools to choose, meet and pay each other safely.
Identity verification
Helpers can submit government-issued ID for review. Once our team approves, an ID Verified badge appears on their profile.
- Confirms the person is who they say they are
- Reduces fraud and impersonation
- Customers can filter for verified Helpers in search
Insurance verification
Pro Helpers can upload proof of public liability insurance. Once approved an Insured badge is displayed.
- Verified insurance is recommended for any in-home trade work
- Customers can ask to see policy details before booking
- The badge does not transfer liability to Find A Hand
DBS verification
Optional for Helpers who work in homes with children, vulnerable adults or pets. Submit a valid basic or enhanced DBS check and we'll display a DBS Checked badge.
Safe working practices
- Meet at the property address listed on the job
- Tell someone you trust where you'll be
- Agree the scope and price clearly in the chat before starting
- Take before & after photos for both your records
- Never pay in advance for materials without seeing receipts
Avoiding scams
Warning signs to watch for:
- Anyone asking you to pay outside Find A Hand chat
- Requests for full payment up-front
- Pressure to share bank details, PayPal links or crypto addresses
- Profiles with no reviews offering unusually low prices
Report any of the above using the Report link on the profile or email complaints@findahand.co.uk.
Dispute resolution
- Try to resolve it directly in chat first — most issues are misunderstandings
- If you can't agree, contact complaints@findahand.co.uk with the job ID
- We'll review messages, reviews and any evidence and make a recommendation within 7 days
- For serious or illegal matters we'll cooperate with the police and trading standards
